Job description

MaiaSpace is a European space tech company, designing, manufacturing and operating competitive and sustainable solutions for space mobility. We are driven by the belief that access to space is a major enabler for a better and more sustainable life on Earth, addressing the challenges faced by humanity: climate, resources, connectivity, and data. Our aim is to successfully design and test a cost-effective and reusable mini-launch vehicle by 2026.

Stress Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Stress Engineer to join our aerospace engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing detailed structural analyses on aeronautical components and assemblies, ensuring their compliance with industry standards. You will work closely with the design, manufacturing, and testing teams throughout the launch vehicle development phases.

In more detail, you will:

  • Perform static analysis, damage tolerance, and dynamic analyses on metallic structures.

  • Develop, validate, and optimize structural solutions in collaboration with design teams.

  • Build and run finite element models (FEM) using standard aerospace industry tools.

  • Elaborate the load specification document based on the stage life phases, functional data (structures temperature and pressures), thermal, dynamic and flight loads.

  • Prepare clear and detailed analysis reports for design reviews.

  • Support structural testing (static and dynamic), including planning, instrumentation definition, and correlation of analysis results with test data.

  • Ensure compliance with aerospace standards, material specifications, and airworthiness regulations.

  • Provide technical support throughout the manufacturing, production, and operational phases.

Job requirements

🎓 Qualifications:

  • Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering degree (+5 years post-Baccalaureate), or a related field.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in structural analysis within the aerospace industry.

  • Proficiency in finite element software such as Nastran, Patran, Abaqus, HyperMesh, ANSYS, or equivalent.

  • Strong understanding of the structural behavior of metallic and composite materials, cellular design principles, and load paths.

  • Excellent classical calculation and hand-analysis skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret aeronautical engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical documentation.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.

  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken).

🎬 Working at MaiaSpace

You will be joining a friendly multi-disciplinary team, comprised of multi-skilled people, following Agile and Scrum methodologies. This means that your role and responsibility may evolve over time with varied assignments and challenges depending on priorities and competences. Your work will be hands-on and in close contact with the final product. We are open-minded, transparent, pragmatic, result oriented and people centric. Teamwork is at the heart of how we work together and our co-workers share the same fundamental values: respect, humility, reactivity and autonomy with a passion for technical excellence. Our newly acquired office space at La Defense is located within the heart of Europe’s largest purpose built business and commercial district with easy access to public transport.

Written and spoken communication is in French and English.
