We are looking for an apprentice mechanical engineer to join one of our agile multi-disciplinary teams in charge of the development of the Maia Upper Stage cryogenic stage. The apprentice will work closely with experienced engineers to contribute to the detailed design, drafting, and finite element analysis of upper stage components for space launch vehicles. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the aerospace industry and contribute to innovative projects.
Your tasks will be the following:
- Assist in the detailed design and development of mechanical systems and components for upper stage launch vehicles
- Create and maintain detailed CAD models and drawings using SolidWorks
- Utilize Product Data Management (PDM) systems to manage and track design data
- Perform finite element analysis (FEA) to ensure the structural integrity and performance of mechanical components
- Prepare and document design calculations, analysis reports, and technical specifications.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (e.g., AIT, Avionics, Propulsion) to ensure integrated system performance
- Participate in design reviews and present findings and progress to the team and stakeholders
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and tools
 
Job requirements
🛸 Specific competences & abilities:
- Currently enrolled in an Engineering School's or Master's degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Strong academic performance and a solid foundation in mechanical engineering principles.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks
- Familiarity with finite element analysis tools (e.g., HyperWorks & OptiStruct)
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
- Interest in the space industry and aerospace engineering
 
🎓 Qualification:
- Previous internship or project experience in mechanical engineering
- Knowledge of space systems and launch vehicles
- Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies
