Mechanical Design Engineer

As part of the Colibri team, work closely with Colibri Senior Mechanical Design Engineer and Mechanical Engineers embedded in other teams.


Your main missions and responsibilities will consist of participation in mechanical design activities from development phase to the test and flight readiness activities:

• Perform Colibri kickstage mechanical finite element model analysis at system and subsystem level (static, sine, random, thermos-elastic), in collaboration with Colibri Senior Mechanical Engineer.
• Participate to Colibri mechanical validation and qualification logic.
• Perform mechanical justification analysis to support product development. Write necessary definition documentation and perform and/or synthesis necessary justifications to support production, architecture consistency and flight worthiness.
• Participate to mechanical test definition, preparation, monitoring and post test analysis.
• In collaboration with Colibri team, propose innovative mechanical solutions to improve Colibri mechanical performance in term of mass, dynamic behaviour, strength, cost, and industrialisation capabilities.
• Participate in the validation of the interfaces
• Participate in Colibri architecture design and AIT logic
• Participate to system analysis and trade-offs
• Contribute to the management of Mass, Centre of gravity and Inertia of the launcher

Job requirements

🎓We are looking for candidates with the following experience and skills:


• Master’s degree in General or Mechanical engineering (+5 years post-Baccalaureate)

• At least 5 years’ experience with direct involvement in mechanical design activities.

• Good knowledge in mechanical design and sizing (analytical and finite element sizing)

• Knowledge on metallic material properties and manufacturing processes (composite appreciated)

• Knowledge in other space technical field is appreciated (system engineering, CAD, fluidics, AIT...)

• Hands-on workshop experience is a plus

• Ability to work as part of a team and flexibly with regard to a start-up environment,

• Autonomy, rigor, good interpersonal and communication skills, proactive problem-solving attitude,

• Ability to work quickly, be "solutions-oriented" and propose disruptive ideas,

• Fluency in French/ English, written and spoken
