Your Team :

 

We are looking for a system engineer intern to join one of our agile multi-disciplinary teams in charge of the development of MaiaSpace Colibri orbital vehicle. Colibri orbital vehicle has different roles.  

  • It will first play a kickstage role (launcher third stage enhancing MaiaSpace performance and injection flexibility.  

  • Secondly, additional functionalities will be added to the vehicle to address multi deployment deployments and in orbit services opportunities from which active debris removal is one of our main targets. This vehicle is at the crossroad between a launcher and a satellite. We need you there.

While Colibri Kickstage first vehicle version will have its first operational flight Q4 2026, One year later we will need to extend the lifetime of the vehicle from hours to several months for constellation deployments (2027) and then we will add other functionalities to do in space inspection (2028), rdv maneuvers and debris deorbitation (2030). In other words, we will make evolve progressively the kickstage into an orbital vehicle.  

 

Your mission :

 

Your mission will be to complete preliminary concept analysis (Avant projet détaillé) covering one or several of the following horizon: 

  • Long term horizon (2030): Active Debris Removal detailed concept analysis to feed MaiaSpace vision to clean space at each flight. 

  • Medium term horizon (2028): In space Inspection missions concept analysis

  • Short term horizon (first flights, 2026): Adaptation of Colibri véhicle design to fullfil In Orbit Demonstration and Validation mission on Colibri véhicle (partners hosted payload). 

Each studies will be done in collaboration with Colibri team members to ensure coherence with actual Colibri design and with the direct support of MaiaSpace senior system engineer. Your activities will include Mission analysis, System design analysis, mechanical &/or mechanisme design.

Your Profile :

  • Self motivated and autonomous work ethic

  • Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to detect subtle discrepancies in data and processes.

  • Strong synthesis capabilities

  • Ability to quickly assess and resolve problems in real-time

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to document findings clearly and present conclusions to stakeholders.

 

General :

  • Duration : 6 months

  • Start date : February - April 2025

  • Location : La Défense with possible travel to Vernon, Normandie
