Job description

🚀 MaiaSpace is a European space tech company, designing, manufacturing and operating competitive and sustainable solutions for space mobility. We are driven by the belief that access to space is a major enabler for a better and more sustainable life on Earth, addressing the challenges faced by humanity: climate, resources, connectivity, and data. Our aim is to successfully design and test a cost-effective and reusable mini-launch vehicle by 2026.

Inside MaiaSpace development teams you will join the Mission & Safety team that studies the launcher trajectory, and the respect of the flight safety regulations.  Its core mission is to certify that the vehicle’s trajectory complies with all technical, regulatory, and environmental requirements

This team is interfaced with many other launcher teams due to the impacts of all the launcher sub-systems on the trajectory. As part of this team, you will be at the heart of the preparation for the first launches.

Withing Mission & Safety team we propose the following training topic for 2026:

Far ranges safety analysis and modelization

The internship will focus on strengthening the far range safety analysis that verifies compliance with FSOA (French Space Operations Act enforced by the CNES) constraints when the launcher is overflying foreign countries and can’t be neutralized anymore. You will become proficient with the current simulation and risk assessment tools, then develop robust interfaces to connect them with other in-house software.

Depending on the needs at the time of the internship, you will take part to one or more of the following tasks:

  • Fall-out injection dispersion impact on reentries : analyzing and improving the method of the dispersion of the injection point and its consequence on the impact footprint

  • Survivability and fragmentation during reentries : conduct sensitivity analysis on fragmentation and automate/enhance the generation process.

  • Modelization and tools implementation for reentries analysis

  • Performance impact studies and Parametric studies on far range

  • Environnemental studies of reentries
