Job description

🚀 At MaiaSpace, we are on a groundbreaking journey to design, test, and commercialize a cost-effective, reusable mini-launch vehicle by 2026, positioning ourselves as leaders in the small-launcher industry with flexible and sustainable access to space.

We are seeking a motivated and proactive student to join our Mission team, where you will play a pivotal role in advancing the modelling of Europe’s first orbital reusable stage propellant management system. Your mission involves planning aerothermal simulation to assess Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software against existing database to ensure inner capabilities in modelling our in-development rocket launcher through different aerodynamic states.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and plan aerodynamic numerical tests

  • Conduct a comprehensive state-of-the-art.

  • Define and implement simplified analyses grounded in current research.

  • Develop a robust CONVERGE model to validate your numerical CFD approach.

  • Post-process and analyse numerical results to draw meaningful insights.

  • Deliver actionable recommendations and compile a detailed report on your findings.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Strong foundation in fluid dynamics and thermodynamics.

  • Familiarity with numerical modelling techniques in fluid mechanics.

  • Proficiency in Python coding for simulation and analysis.

  • Experience working in multinational and interdisciplinary teams.

  • Self-motivated, autonomous, and ready to take initiative.

  • Eager to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

  • Humble and pragmatic approach to problem-solving.

  • Good command of English; proficiency in French is a plus.

  • Passion for advancing the commercial space industry in Europe.

  • Prior experience with CFD software is highly advantageous.

Job requirements

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as a master’s student in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Space Engineering, Power & Propulsion, Energy, Flow and Process, etc.).

  • Experience in multiphase flow analysis (Volume of Fluid), thermal analysis, or design optimization is a significant advantage.

🎬 Working at MaiaSpace:

You will be joining a friendly multi-disciplinary team, comprised of multi-skilled people, following Agile and Scrum methodologies. This means that your role and responsibility may evolve over time with varied assignments and challenges depending on priorities and competences. Your work will be hands-on and in close contact with the final product. We are open-minded, transparent, pragmatic, result oriented and people centric. Teamwork is at the heart of how we work together, and our co-workers share the same fundamental values: respect, humility, reactivity and autonomy with a passion for technical excellence. Our newly acquired office space at La Defense is located within the heart of Europe’s largest purpose built business and commercial district with easy access to public transport. Also, we have a second location integration site in Vernon (27). Regular trips between the two locations are to be expected. These displacements may be extended to Kourou when the time comes. The company allows home office when it is compatible with your responsibilities.
