System engineer, Upper part


Inside MaiaSpace development teams you will join the team that elaborates and optimize trajectory for our launch vehicle, elaborate the environment loads along the trajectory for the other development teams, lead the fairing, upper parts and interstage products design, test and AIT.

Within this team, you will design and drive the development and/or selection of the upper part structures interfacing with MaiaSpace customers, for its different flight configurations: dedicated launches, rideshare, constellations… In strong interaction with the business teams you will be in charge of the upper part layout and the best way to commercialize MaiaSpace services.

In this perimeter your responsibilities will include:

  • Accommodation analysis for MaiaSpace customers (bids, feasibility analysis)
  • Definition of MaiaSpace Upper Structures with the objective of:

- Standardizing the interfaces with a low-cost objective while ensuring for MaiaSpace to address as many customers as possible regarding the segment addressed by its performance and its fairing usable volume.

- Approving and/or optimizing the usable volume as defined today.

- Defining the optimal interface diameters of the upper part structures (launcher and kickstage) in coordination with your team.

Trade-off on electrical solutions/architecture.

  • Development of the launcher Upper Structures and the associated solutions/architecture of the electrical interfaces
    - Definition synthesis including interfaces clarification with other teams.
    - Development plan determination
    - Design and manufacturing requirements Synthesis
    - Make or buy strategy Proposition & possible partnerships on the products.
    - Potential subcontractors and partners Follow-up (from RFI to parts reception)
  • Participate in the development of hardware demonstration test campaigns to validate the selected concepts in collaboration with the production teams.
  • Contribution to the overall launch system definition

      - Contribute to the engineering effort of your team & cross-functionally between teams to the system synthesis, even if it involves work outside your main field of action, in order to contribute to the vehicle system synthesis.


🎓 Qualification

Master degree in aerospatial engineering 

A minimum of 7 years experience in space projects


🛸 Skills

Experience in Product design, structures development, contract management 

An electrical background is an advantage

Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, CATIA, ...)

Autonomous, proactive attitude towards resolution of problems

Team player with the ability to collaborate with people from different disciplines

Knowledge or practice of Agile methodology

Demonstrated experience in start-up work mode or strong collaborative environment;

Ability to work fast, be « solution oriented » and propose out-of-the box ideas
