MaiaSpace is a European space tech company, designing, manufacturing and operating competitive and sustainable solutions for space mobility. Inside MaiaSpace development teams you will join one of our agile multi-disciplinary teams in charge of the development of MaiaSpace Colibri orbital vehicle. Colibri orbital vehicle has different roles. It will first play a kickstage role enhancing MaiaSpace performance and injection flexibility. Then, in midterm horizon, additional functionalities will be added to the vehicle to address in orbit services opportunities from which active debris removal is one of our main targets. This vehicle is at the crossroad between a launcher and a satellite.

MaiaSpace is location in the Paris area and Vernon (27). Trips between the two locations are to be expected, and easy to do thanks to a direct daily public bus between La Defense and Vernon. The company allows home office when it is compatible with your postion. Professional communication is done either in French or English.

Subject

The purpose of a propellant management device (PMD) is to separate liquid and gas phases in a propellant tank, ensuring delivery of single-phase propellant to the propulsion units. The function is critical in maintaing quality propellant delivery across various gravitational environments.

The MaiaSpace kick stage has need of such a device for its propellant tanks.

In collaboration with the Colibri team, your role as internship will be :

  • Conceptualise designs and ideas for the PMD's
  • Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers for the design and manufacture
  • Testing and validation of the conceptualised design, proving functionality and performance
  • Integration into a replica kick stage for verification in an end-to-end system hot fire test

Job requirements

🛸 Specific competences & abilities:

Hands-on experience building/testing mechanical prototypes

Experience with plastics/polymers/elastomers

Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to detect subtle discrepancies in data and processes

Ability to quickly assess and resolve problems in real-time

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to document findings clearly and present conclusions to stakeholders

Ability to work as part of a team and flexibly with regard to a start-up environment

Autonomy, rigor, good interpersonal and communication skills, proactive problem-solving attitude
Ability to work quickly, be "solutions-oriented" and propose disruptive ideas

Fluency in English, written and spoken
